Martha started her career at PwC (the accounting firm formerly known as PriceWaterhouseCoopers) with an MBA and MS in Accounting, was double-promoted, and left as a CPA to work at a series of high-tech companies. After years of volunteer/Board service at start-up nonprofit On The Rise, Inc. (a day program for individuals experiencing homelessness), Martha joined the staff there in 2003 and continued as Executive Director 2008-2021. During her leadership, On The Rise paid off its mortgage, doubled its revenue, expanded its mission beyond women to include trans/nonbinary individuals, improved the lives of thousands of participants, helped hundreds secure housing, and saw housing retention rates that exceeded 90% in its Keep The Keys Program launched in 2015.

After a two-year transition period with heavy involvement in recruiting and onboarding On The Rise’s new senior management team, Martha left On The Rise in 2021. She then shifted her focus to nonprofit consulting roles that support leadership growth and transitions, including strategy, fundraising and special projects, at small (budgets <$10M) human services nonprofits.

Martha delivers business skills and experience, infused with the mission and values of nonprofit human service work. In a sector defined by meeting infinite needs with finite resources, she’s known for resourcefulness, work ethic, integrity, and creativity.
