Work worth caring about.
Martha Sandler began her career at PwC — then Price Waterhouse LLP — where she earned a CPA and was double-promoted before moving into a series of technology companies. She joined the nonprofit sector in 2003 as Director of Finance and Administration at On The Rise, Inc., a Boston-area day program for individuals experiencing homelessness, and served as its Executive Director from 2008 to 2021. During her tenure, On The Rise paid off its mortgage, doubled its revenue, expanded its mission to include trans and nonbinary individuals, and launched its Keep The Keys housing retention program, which sustained retention rates above 90%.
Since 2021, Martha has operated an independent consulting practice serving small and mid-size human services nonprofits across Massachusetts and New England. Her engagements have included interim financial and operational leadership, grant writing, HR, and strategy. She brings a finance director's rigor and an executive director's breadth — and is known for ramping up quickly, working independently, and leaving organizations stronger than she found them.
Martha holds an MBA and MS in Accounting.
